Governed by the Gajra Raja Medical College Society under the Department of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, the college has produced thousands of eminent doctors and specialists since its inception.

The college is affiliated with Jiwaji University, Gwalior, and Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), Jabalpur, and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI)/National Medical Commission (NMC).

  • The idea of establishing a medical college in Gwalior was initiated by Dr. Bhagwat Sahai, then Medical Superintendent of Jaya Arogya Hospital, who envisioned a medical teaching and training center in the region.
  • In 1945, the Gajra Raja Memorial Trust sanctioned ₹20 lakhs for construction.
  • An additional ₹10 lakhs was donated by Shri G. D. Birla, at the request of Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia.
