Why Don’t Allow Face Mismatch?

The NEET UG exam is one of India’s most competitive medical entrance tests, attracting over 2 million candidates each year. With such a high number of applicants, cases of identity fraud, impersonation, and forged documents have been on the rise. To tackle these issues, the face verification rule has been introduced to:

  • Prevent Impersonation: Ensuring that only the genuine, registered candidate takes the exam.
  • Strengthen Security: Enhancing the reliability and integrity of the examination process.
  • Promote Fairness: Eliminate fraudulent practices to provide every student with an equal opportunity.

Past Fraud Incidents:
Over the years, multiple cases have surfaced in which dummy candidates appeared for the NEET, with some students even hiring others to take the exam on their behalf. These incidents have led to the enforcement of stricter regulations to uphold the exam’s credibility.

How Does NTA’s Face Verification Process Actually Work?

NTA will implement the face verification process in two key stages:

1. During Admit Card Issuance

  • When candidates upload their photograph while filling out the NEET application form, it will be cross-checked with previous records.
  • The uploaded photo must be clear, recent, and in the correct format to avoid rejection.
  • Candidates should use a front-facing image without accessories like sunglasses or caps.

2. At the Examination Center

  • Face verification will be conducted at the exam center entrance.
  • Invigilators will compare the candidate’s physical appearance with the photograph on the admit card.
  • If the system detects any discrepancy, additional verification steps may be required.

If the face does not match, entry to the exam may be denied!

Tips to Ensure Your Face Matches Your ID & Avoid Disqualification!

To prevent last-minute disqualification, candidates must adhere to these essential guidelines:

1. Use a Recent Photograph

  • Ensure the photo was taken within the last three months.
  • Avoid using outdated passport-size photos that no longer represent your current appearance.

2. Follow NTA’s Photo Guidelines

  • Use a plain white background for clarity.
  • Ensure 80% of your face is clearly visible.
  • Avoid shadows, caps, or sunglasses in the photograph.

3. Maintain a Consistent Appearance

  • Refrain from making significant changes to your look, such as shaving a beard or drastically changing your hairstyle, just before the exam.
  • If you wear spectacles, ensure you wear them in both your uploaded photo and on exam day.

4. Update Aadhaar Details if Needed

  • If the photo on your Aadhaar card is outdated, update it before the exam.
Visit UIDAI to make necessary corrections.

5. Carry Additional ID Proofs

  • In case of discrepancies, bring alternative ID proof such as a Passport, Voter ID, or School ID to verify your identity.

Face Mismatch? Here’s What Happens Next!

If your face does not match the registered photograph, the following actions may be taken:

  • Re-verification: You might be required to present additional ID proof for identity confirmation.
  • Denial of Entry: If the mismatch is significant, you could be barred from taking the exam.
  • Further Investigation: If fraud is suspected, NTA may initiate a detailed inquiry.

To prevent these issues, make sure your uploaded photo clearly reflects your current appearance.
