The proposed Government Medical College, Palakkad is a visionary project sanctioned by the Kerala Government under the Scheduled Caste Component Plan (SCP) Funds. Palakkad, one of the largest districts in Kerala, has long faced the absence of a government medical college despite being home to the highest population of Scheduled Communities. To bridge this healthcare and educational gap, the district administration identified an unused site, paving the way for a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, and socially inclusive medical institution.
This college is being designed not just as an academic center but also as a residential integrated educational institution for health sciences, aiming to transform Palakkad into a hub for medical education, healthcare services, and research innovation.
