The college is affiliated with Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, and started with 100 MBBS seats.

The institution is attached to the Government General Hospital, Machilipatnam, which has been upgraded from a 330-bed to a 553-bed facility under the World Bank–aided First Referral Health Systems Project. Situated near the Radar Centre at Karagraharam, the college is strategically located with road, rail, and air connectivity to Vijayawada and other cities.
