Overview of MBBS/BDS Admission in Bangladesh (2025–26)

Every year, the DGME invites applications from foreign nationals (especially from SAARC countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan) for admission into MBBS and BDS programs in both government and private medical colleges in Bangladesh.

The 2025–26 circular emphasizes maintaining academic transparency, the NEET qualification for Indian students, and GPA-based merit assessment in accordance with Bangladesh’s education board standards.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS & BDS Admission (Foreign Students)

To apply under the session 2025–26, applicants must fulfil the following DGME-prescribed criteria:

  • Must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
  • Minimum GPA 7.0 (aggregate) in SSC (10th) and HSC (12th) or equivalent.
  • Minimum GPA 3.5 in Biology.
  • Year of 10th passing must not be before 2022, and 12th passing must be 2024 or 2025.
  • NEET (for Indian students): Must be qualified as per the latest NMC guidelines.

Note: Candidates who fail to meet GPA or subject-wise criteria are not eligible, even if they qualify NEET.

Minimum GPA Calculation Method

The GPA is calculated based on equivalency with the Bangladesh Secondary and Higher Secondary Education System.

Application Process for MBBS/BDS 2025–26

The application procedure for foreign students is online only through the DGME portal.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Download the application form from www.dgme.gov.bd.
  2. Fill the form accurately (use BLOCK letters).
  3. Attach attested copies of mark sheets, passports, and other documents.
  4. Submit the completed form to the Bangladesh Embassy / High Commission in your country by the prescribed date.
  5. The Embassy will forward eligible applications to DGME, Dhaka, for verification and final selection.

For Government Medical Colleges:

  • Tuition fee: As per DGME notice (approx. USD 8,000–10,000 total package).
  • Payment must be made via TT (Telegraphic Transfer) to DGME’s official account in Bangladesh.

For Private Medical Colleges:

  • Total cost: USD 33,000–55,000 (varies by college).
  • Payment in instalments is allowed as per college policy.
  • First-year installment (USD 10,000–12,000) payable at admission confirmation.
